Divertimento No.2 for Oboe and Bassoon

The sequel to the often performed Divertimento (2018) for oboe and bassoon. In four movements:

I. SENNET In stage directions of Elizabethan plays, the sennet is a signal call on a trumpet or cornet for entrance or exit on the stage. In our case, it’s a swingy overture.

II. MIILONGA Just like in the first Divertimento, we have a tango/milonga to flaunt the reeds’ expressiveness.

III. LICENTIOUS FUGUETTE A little fugue, akin to other “Fughette licenziose” written for different instrumentations by the same author.

IV. PHRYGIAN SAMBA It’s kind of a samba, at least rhythmically, but opening in a haunting Phrygian mode, before the theme gets varied.
