Pastoral Train Ride is a fun and humorous composition reflecting the story of a train’s journey through the countryside, with the sounds of the train and nature being depicted by the various instruments of the ensemble.  The train’s whistle can be heard in the woodwinds, the sound of the chugging engine by the percussion, and the sauntering cow is brought to life by the low brass.

Pastoral Train Ride is dedicated to Dr. Judson Bracey, professor emeritus of Alderson Broaddus University, and train enthusiast, whose love of music was an inspiration for this composition.
