Shir Shel Yoninah is a beautiful new work for string quartet. Composed by Ari Fisher for his wife to walk down the aisle, the music evokes nostalgia, love, and romance and is perfect for any occasions - especially weddings!
“I will marry a freaking composer, okay? You made me.”
This comment was posted as a reaction to my favorite string quartet, Atlys, playing an excerpt from Shir Shel Yoninah.
The instagram post was just a practice session before my wedding of what would be the music that would play as I walked down the aisle. Can you believe that my husband Ari actually wrote this for me? The man knows about romance. The commenter was right that you should marry a composer if you care about romance, magic, and music.
On my first date with Ari, we actually discussed whether we each thought magic was real. Our entire relationship and whirlwind romance has proven to me that magic exists just like other intangible forces that govern us. Like gravity, the magic of our relationship was inevitable. When we met, we both knew that we were meant to be together and that it felt right. In fact, we were engaged after only six months of dating.
When Ari asked me what kind of music I would like to walk down the aisle to, the answer was automatic but I held back a little bit. Each of us was afraid to request that he write the music. My fear was that I was not worthy in his eyes of composing music for me. If you have heard any other of Ari’s music, you will understand how incredible and special it is, and truth be told, I was scared to request something so monumental and lofty for myself. Ari later confessed that the reason he was afraid of the task was because of how much it meant to him to get it right. What you are about to see in the sheet music of this song is two people who took a leap despite being afraid; the leap to be together forever and the music that made that day the most exceptional day of my life.
