Tremulous

Tremulous draws inspiration from Bethany Davis’s poem “The Aspen’s Song,” which finds peace and belonging amid the rustling leaves of an aspen grove. Short fragments of the poem appear throughout the score, serving as poetic signposts for the performers. The violin, double bass, and piano evoke leaves stirred by strong spring winds, moments of quiet reflection, and the poem’s sense of being “forever lost, forever found.” Through shifting textures, the music explores the aspen grove as both a living landscape and a timeless sanctuary.
