JAMES KROM is a Pennsylvania based composer, pianist, and organist currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in composition at Carnegie Mellon University, where he studies under Dr. Nancy Galbraith. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in composition from The Catholic University of America (CUA), where he studied under Dr. Stephen Gorbos, Dr. Andrew E. Simpson, Dr. Joel Friedmann, and JoAnne Harris.
James writes orchestral, chamber/solo, and choral/vocal works, drawing on a deep appreciation of classical, folk, and contemporary music. In 2023, his orchestral work Night Ride Before a Duel was premiered by the Vidin Sinfonietta as part of the International Musicians Academy in Vidin, Bulgaria. In 2024, James’ choral Alleluia received its premiere by CUA’s Concert Choir, while CUA’s Chamber Orchestra commissioned Prayer of St. Francis for the ensemble’s fall concert. James’ youth orchestra work, Wolf Rocks Expedition, was also premiered in PA in 2024 by the Westmoreland Youth Symphony Orchestra.You can enjoy many of James’ past and upcoming works on his YouTube channel, or his website, www.jameskrom.com.
